The sand gets hot and the competition gets hotter when Wildwood’s premier beach basketball tournament takes over the shoreline for two days of non-stop action right on the famous boardwalk beaches.

What Makes Beach Basketball Special

• The tournament draws teams to play on the sand near Morey’s Piers, with divisions for different skill levels.
• Unlike indoor tournaments, beach basketball in Wildwood adds unique challenges that test players’ stamina and skill in entirely new ways. The soft sand makes every sprint, jump, and defensive slide significantly more demanding, while ocean breezes can affect shooting accuracy and ball handling. Teams must adapt their strategies for the slower pace and higher-energy demands of playing on sand.
• The tournament draws spectators and players from the region, creating a lively atmosphere near the boardwalk attractions.

What to Expect at the Tournament

Games typically run throughout the day, with finals held in the afternoon.

• August 2026 — a weekend of competition
• Beach courts set up on Wildwood Beach near the boardwalk
• Men’s, Women’s, and Co-ed divisions with age brackets from high school through adult recreational
• Concession stands and vendors positioned throughout the tournament area selling food, drinks, and tournament merchandise
• Awards ceremony with trophies for division winners

Pack sunscreen, a beach chair, and water, and plan for shade breaks.
